# Imaginary Number/Conjugate question

Imaginary Number/Conjugate question
The problem is:

1/1+i

(1 over 1 plus i)

The answer I have is: 1 - i / 2

(1 minus i over 2)

However the answer in the book is: 1/2 - 1/2 * i

(one half minus one half i)

Is my answer the same as the books answer or am I missing a step somewhere?

$\frac{1}{2} - \frac{1}{2} \cdot i = \frac{1}{2}(1 - i) = \frac{1-i}{2}$

$\frac{1 - i}{2} =\frac{1}{2} - \frac{i}{2}$

This should not be causing you confusion!
