Thread: Simultaneous equations.

Hello can someone please teach me how to solve this problem I haven't done math in 3 years and Im going back to school, I cant remember how to do any of it.

12x - 5y = 9
3x - 8y = -18

Find X and Y
The answers are
x = 2
y = 3

Multiply the second equation through by 4, then take the first equation away from that result.
