How much money did they bring

Hello!

I don't know how to solve this, and would appreciate some help to get started.

Two pokerplayers, A and B, has lost an equal amount of money.

**A** has lost $\displaystyle \frac{2}{9} $ and **B** $\displaystyle \frac{1}{5}$ of the amounts that they brought. **B** had broght 200 dollars more then A.

How much money did they bring?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: How much money did they bring

Let "a" be the amount of money that **A** brought and let "b" be the amount of money that **B** brought. Then **A** lost $\displaystyle \frac{2}{9}a$1 and **B** lost $\displaystyle \frac{1}{5}b$ dollars. And, we are told, those are equal:

$\displaystyle \frac{2a}{9}= \frac{b}{5}$.

We are also told that "**B** brought 200 dollars more than **A**":

b= a+ 200.

Solve those two equations for a and b.
