Could someone show me how its done.

I guess the expression is:
$\displaystyle 5-\frac{3}{7}\cdot (12-5z)$
Expand $\displaystyle \frac{3}{7}\cdot (12-5z)$ and simplify.

Could you please put brackets in so that the expressions on both sides are unambiguous

If that is the correct interpretation of the left hand side, then it is not equal to the right hand side (the 13 should be a 15).
