    need help, dumb at math

Ok, lets get one thing straight, what might be easy on here for you is rather tough for me. my strengths lie elsewhere. so here is my 'difficult' question:

how and in what order am i meant to work out a question such as 54+6-9-4x10+6=?

id like to know in what order im meant to do such a question (i think im getting this mixed up with BODMAS...can i add brackets?) so i can do it with other types of numbers and questions.

    thanks alot

You have all addition and subtraction, except for the 4x10, so put that in brackets.

    54 + 6 - 9 - (4 x 10) + 6
    54 + 6 - 9 - ( 40 ) + 6
    ...60 - 9 - 40 + 6
    51 - 40 + 6
    9 + 6
    15
