Hi guys very simple question!
What is need to be known before one can start on Algebra? How much basic math? is
there anything that needs to be known to start?
Thanks!![]()
If you can perform mental arithmetic reasonably well, are aware of at least the existence of positive/negative integers, rationals, number zero, and "the rest", understand operator priority and have an open mind, then I believe you are ready to start Algebra.
Well as Prove It said, know the properties of all the different number types, such knowing how to add two fractions (rational numbers), etc... Algebra really is just taking that knowledge and abstracting further by replacing some numbers with unknowns.
I can't write it all out again, but I'd advise you to have a read of the first couple of lessons of this:
Harry Potter Forums :: The Slug Club - Arithmancy Master Class (Private) :: HP Community & Forums
Basically the first couple of lessons demonstrate how algebra is just a shorthand way of writing the PROCESS that someone should follow.
