    Coefficient doubt

    First of all Hello to everyone.

    This is my doubt- What is the coefficient of z in the term 2yz ?

    The coefficient of z here is what z is multiplied by to form the final product. Here z is multiplied by 2y, so the coefficient of z is 2y.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Here's what I have to add to what you have said-

    By definition - a coefficient is a number that is multiplied to a variable.

    Therefore how can 2y be the coefficient of z , when 2y itself is a variable ?

    Because you're considering the coefficient of z, not of y or 2y. When you said "of z" in your question you essentially considered z as being the only variable, and everything else as a constant.
