Pick out a series of x values and find the y values for them, respectively. Then plot the points and draw a smooth curve between them.

Tell me at what point in the above (brief) explanation you are getting lost.

3. Lost on the table portion......

I usually get stuck on completing the table portion of the math problem. For some reason I can never pount it into my head. The graph part is easy for me but when it comes to the table i'm lost. Is there any easy way that I can look at this.

Thanks,

Simply by practice and going from one step to the next.
$y = x^2 + 2$
$y = (2)^2 + 2 = 4 + 2 = 6$
$x = 1 \implies y = (1)^2 + 2 = 1 + 2 = 3$
$x = 0 \implies y = (0)^2 + 2 = 0 + 2 = 2$
$x = -1 \implies y = (-1)^2 + 2 = 1 + 2 = 3$
$x = -2 \implies y = (-2)^2 + 2 = 4 + 2 = 6$
