    Evaluating Logarithms

Forgive me, I am newbie, and I have not yet the slightest clue as of how to go about inserting mathematical operations into threads.

I have tried uploading images that I have created using Microsoft Equation Editor but it keeps saying invalid image despite it being the correct file type. So I will attempt to demonstrate this expression in font.

    Evaluate:

    log24(3rd root of 16) - log4(3rd root of 1/4)

**The small 2 and 4 indicate the base in the expression. They are suppose to be slightly dropped like an underscore.

    The answer I get for this is 2 - (-1/3) = 2 + 1/3 = 7/3

However, in the Answer guide the the expression is evaluated to be:

    2+ 4/3 - (-1/3)= 11/3

I don't know where the 4/3 is coming from. I'm not sure what step I am missing. Or is the answer guide incorrect?

Thanks in advance. I hope you understand the expression.

    Sincerely,

    Raymond
