Perimeter Question

a) Write the equation of the length of the length of the wire in terms of the radius of a circle and the side of the square.

b) Write the equation of the combined enclosed area of the circle and the square in terms of the radius.

(a) $2\pi r +4x=12$

(b) $A =\pi r^2 + x^2 = \pi r^2 + (\frac{12-2\pi r}{4})^2$

Here r is the radius of the circle, and x is the length of a side of the square.
