i am trying to think of a radical expression equation i use in everyday life. can u help me?

If you need a 4" strip of cake, and all you have is a 9" x 13" baking pan, what is the longest 4" strip you can fit into the pan? Just go down the long way and get 13", right? If you go across the diagonal, you can eek out almost 14"!!!

Make sure it hits 4" from a corner on the short side and you will get a long piece of cake!!. <== See that radical?!

That was hard enough to come up with a cooking example. Hardly seems worth the effort for a louse extra 0.928 inch.
