Math Help - Simultaneous Linear Equations

1. Simultaneous Linear Equations

Two men, P and Q, start from the same place and run in the same direction. P's speed is three times Q's. After 2 hours, they are 30km apart. Find their speeds.

$v_1 = 3 v_2$ .... (1) (given)

$2v_1 - 2v_2 = 30$ .... (2) (using distance = speed x time)

If you need more help, please show all your work and say where yuo are stuck.

3. Uhm, what does the U represent? :S

U? What U?

You wanted equations, I've given you equations. Now you have to think about what the symbols in the equations mean (should be blindingly obvious) and where the equations have come from (hint given in brackets at end of each of equation). As well as solve them, of course.
