    Unhappy 2 word problems!

    1. The length of a rectangle flower garden is 4 feet longer then twice its width. If the area of the garden measures 96 square feet what is the perimeter?

    2. Find two consecutive negative integer such that the sum of the squares is 113.

    My view-
    1. 2l+4=96
    So i draw the rectangle and label and then i dont know where to go from there..?

    2. I am baffled, negative consecutive? Can some one help me =(

    Try to solve x^2+(x+1)^2=113

    x=-8 so x+1= ...?
