Help on solving equation

I had taken a placement test for Math. I need to pass into a college credit math course and i missed out on two math problems that bumped me back to intermediate math. They were something like

for all of (a + b) find the solutions for x. Then the equation. I cant find the problem on any of the algebra sites i looked at nor how to solve it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
