    I got \displaystyle -\frac{y^7}{9x^5}, assuming you wanted to simplify \displaystyle \frac{-(3)^5(x^9)(y^{-20})}{(3^7)(x^{14})(y^{-27})(y^0)}

    This is almost unreadable - learning some LaTeX doesn't take much time and saves the helpers from getting headaches...

    Is your original expression \displaystyle \frac{(-3)^5x^9(y^{-5})^4}{3^7x^{14}y^{-27}y^0}?

    When you divide things with similar bases, subtract exponents. X and Y are no different than 3.
