Clarification on addition boundries

Can someone clarify what is meant by this please? Obviosuly I know how to add/subtract two digit numbers, but what is this 10/100 boundry? Does this just mean I can not go below 10 and above 100, or am I missing something?

Probably it is meant that the digits add up to maximal 9.

An example: 32 + 55 is allowed - but: 35 + 47 is not allowed because 5 + 7 is greater than 10, that means you crossed the border.

82 + 16 is allowed - but 82 + 26 is not allowed beacuse 80 + 20 is greater than 100 so you crossed the border again.

... and now I hope that I understood the question correctly.
