1. ## Which side first?

Hi,

I am wondering a few basic algebra principals. So let's say I've got an equation that looks like this:

$3x + 4 = 4x - 5$

And I want to solve for x.

Which side do I subtract from? Does it matter? The lowest integer or which side? Please explain. Thanks.

2. It does not matter. You will get the same solution.

If you get x on the right, you will have -x = ..., so you will need to multiply by -1 to get x = .... Still the same answer though.

3. Thanks!
