    area

    Hi june bug,
    let x= lenght then width = x-2 Area = 8
    x(x-2) =8
    x^2 -2x -8 = 0
    Factor the quadratic and solve for x

    so would the width be -2 and the length be 4? i used the equation x^2-2x-8=0 and solved using the quadratic formula and that's what i got.
