What is the product of 3 2/3 and 14 2/5 ?

when multiplying fractions that are mixed numbers (when there is a whole number and a fraction) you must first convert the mixed number into a fraction.

for example 3 2/3

first we convert 3 into thirds

3 = 3/3 + 3/3 +3/3 = 9/3

now we can convert, 3 2/3 = 9/3 + 2/3 = 11/3
doing the same we convert 14 2/5 = 70/5 + 2/5 = 72/5

now we can multiply

.11.....72......11*72
--- * --- = --------
.3.......5.........3*5

792/15 is the answer, now check if we can reduce 7+9+2 = 18 which is divisble by 3 therefore 792 is divisible by 3 and so is 15.

264/5 is the reduced fraction

52 4/5 is the mixed number version
