# Math Help - Fractional Equations

1. ## Fractional Equations

x is $\frac{3}{13}$
Im not sure where i went wrong
$\frac{15x}{4}$= $\frac{9}{4}$ - $\frac{3-x}{2}$
LCD first so...
$\frac{15x}{4}$= $\frac{9}{4}$ - $\frac{6-2x}{4}$
solve...
15x=9-6-2x
15x=3-2x
17x=3
x= $\frac{3}{17}$

on a side note, how would i solve
$15(\frac{3x}{5}$ - $\frac{x}{3})$

2. The error is in this line:: $15x=9-6-2x$

Instead you have $15x = 9-(6-2x)$ which means the 2x is added: $15x = 3+2x$

and continue from there

3. oh alright that makes much more sense, thank you

4. For $15 \left(\dfrac{3x}{5} - \dfrac{x}{3}\right)$ distribute the 15, since both 3 and 5 are factors of 15 you will clear the fraction to give the expression $9x-5x$
