10 in power of what (?) is same as 0.0042? any help...

Let the number you are looking for be x. $\displaystyle 10^x = 0.0042$ You can put log on both sides; $\displaystyle \log 10^x = \log 0.0042$ $\displaystyle x \log 10 = \log 0.0042$ $\displaystyle x = \log 0.0042$ Can you complete it now?
I think you're wrong since! log(0.0042) =-5.472670753692815 and 10^-5.472670753692815=3.367667814600788e-06 or?
Um... by log, I mean log to base 10... not log to base e... if the latter was the case, I would have written ln..
