if anybody could help me with this simple inequality I would be truly appreciative:

b < 1/(xy)

What are the max. and min. limits of the value for x between which the inequality would prove true.

Is is positive? Or just any real number? What about y?

I should have specified that, you are right.

0≤b≤1 (within that range any real number)

0≤y≤1 (within that range any real number)

Be sure to note that $b\not= 0~\&~y\not= 0$.

wow. You are good (and fast). And you also corrected my restrictions about b and y. In the example I had in mind they could not equal zero after all.
