    algebra problem

    adult tickets for a play cost $8 and child tickets cost$1. if there were 22 people at a performance and the theatre collected $50 friom ticket sales, how many children attended the play?
    My answer is 4 am i right?

    nope, that's how many adults attended the play

    if a is the number of adults, and c is the number of children, then this situation can be modeled by the system of equations:

    8a + c = 50 ..............(1)

    a + c = 22 .................(2)
