nope, that's how many adults attended the play

if $\displaystyle a$ is the number of adults, and $\displaystyle c$ is the number of children, then this situation can be modeled by the system of equations:

$\displaystyle 8a + c = 50$ ..............(1)

$\displaystyle a + c = 22$ .................(2)
