I have the problem y=(8-9x)/(8-7x) and cannot solve it. If someone would give a few steps, it'd be greatly appreciated

$\displaystyle \displaystyle\frac{8-9x}{8-7x} =\frac{9}{7}-\frac{16}{7(8-7x)} $

Or:

$\displaystyle \frac{8- 9x}{9- 7x}= y$

multiply both sides by 9- 7x:

8- 9x= (9- 7x)y= 9y- 7xy

Add 7xy to both sides and subtract 9 from both sides:

7xy- 9x= (7y- 9)x= 9y- 8

Finally, divide both sides by 7y- 9.
