2. Hi kamie87,

One right,one wrong.

bjh

4. ok the second one is majorly wrong.... can you tell me how to work it out? maybe a similar problem for practice?

5. if i do it on the calculator i get 4 3/8 but how do i work it out without a calculator?

6. $\displaystyle 3 \frac{1}{8} \div \frac{5}{7}$

$\displaystyle \frac{25}{8} \div \frac{5}{7}$

$\displaystyle \frac{25}{8} \times \frac{7}{5}$

$\displaystyle \frac{25 \times 7}{8 \times 5} = \frac{5 \times 7}{8 \times 1} = \frac{35}{8} = 4 \frac{3}{8}$

3 1/8 = 25/8 ; ok?

RULE: (a/b) / (c/d) = (a/b) * (d/c)

Wrap it up!

8. thankyou for the help...
so you flip the second fraction upside down
and in the fourth line it changed from 25x7 to 5x7 and 8x5 to 8x1?? im a little lost to how that works sorry

$\displaystyle \displaystyle \frac{25 \times 7}{8 \times 5} = \frac{5 \times 5 \times 7}{8 \times 5}$

so ... what happens to one of the 5's in the numerator and denominator?
