    Question Rules to simplify fractions

    Well here is my doubt
I'm programming a tool that simplifies fractions
but I'm not so good in math

I need to know what are things i should keep in mind
for example here are some things I have figured out (correct me if I'm wrong)

*Only simplify when numerator is bigger than denominator
*Only simplify when both numerator and denominator are odd or when both are even.

    any other rules?
    thanks!

For even, I would say yes, but for odd, it's not always easy...

    Take:

    \dfrac13

    or

    \dfrac35

Will the program try to simplify this?

What we usually do is look for the common factors of the numerator and the denominator.
