Thread: Finding 3/7th of a number

Really basic question.. how on a calculator can I find say 5/7 of a number?

Im trying to figure out the following equation.

"If 3/7 of n is 42, what is 5/7 of n?"

3/7 = 42

so 1/7 must be 42 divide 3 = 14

so 5/7 must 5 x 14 = 70

If anything, I think the calculator would be a hindrance here. It's easier to set up on paper , and less chances to make mistakes. The answer is 70, and n=98.
