    quick question for rounding, if number is 49 and your rounding to hundreds is it zero

    just wondering.

    Yes it is. Its not a very practical question. it would be more practical to round to the tens place, hence yielding 50.

    well i had to round to the 100th place and the prob was 1429 + 38 + 482 = ? " estimate the sum by first rounding to the nearest hundred. "

    Well is you add up and then round 1949, your answer would be 1900. However, I believe it wants you to round each term and then add up. So 1400 + 0 + 500 = 1900.

    You get the same answer, but its not always the case.
