# Thread: Simplifying fraction over fraction expression

1. ## Simplifying fraction over fraction expression

Hi!

In physics I derived the following expression, and I have no idea where to start simplifying it:

$R_v = \frac{\frac{R_1 V_x}{E-V_x}R_2}{R_2 - \frac{R_1V_x}{E-V_x}}$

The lot in brackets is the same expression, so my hunch tells me this could be written much simpler? Or could it?

Jodles

2. R_v={R_1V_xR_2}/{R_2{E-V_x}-R_1V_x}

multiply numerator and denominator by $(E-V_x)$
