Thread: factorise

hi this is my question:
i need to factorise, x^2-8x+12=?
i know it has two brackes and they both start with x but im not sure how to find out the numbers in side the brackets? how would i do this??

Have you looked at -2 and -6 (also have you learned about the discriminant)?

i don't think we have learnt about discrininant. if i do the -2 and -6 what would that make because i think i have to make 8.

Your problem shows -8, not 8 so what happens when you add -2 with -6?
