hi this is my question:
i need to find x from this shape:

would the answer = 5x+19?

From the diagram, x + 7 = 2x - 1. So this means that after subtracting x from both sides and adding 1 to both sides, you have x = 8.

For the second part (which should have used a different letter), you have x + 6 = 7 so that x = 1. For the final part, draw a horizontal line break up the figure into an isosceles triangle and a trapezoid. Can you go on from here to solve or do you need further help? (note I made certain assumptions here).

i really don't understand that! in class we just added the Xs and the numbers. if i did that would it = 5x+19?
