Thread: Need help with word problem...

All I need is the equation(s), I do not need to solve.

The sum of digits of a three digit number is 15. The ones-place digit is one more than twice the tens-place digit. the hundreds-place digit is 2 less than the one-place digit. Assuming p is the hundreds-place digit, q is the tens-place digit and r is the one-place digit, set up the system of equations to describe the problem.

p + q + r = 15

r = 2q + 1

p = r - 2

Thank you, that is exactly what I came up with... it just did not seem right to me so I wanted a second opion. Thanks again!
