    in both cases, your aim is to get all the X's on the same side, and everything else on the other side

    1)
    (subtract x from both sides)
    -12x - x = x-x + 26
    -13x = 0 + 26
    -13x = 26

    (divide by -13)
    x = -2

    You try (2).

    1.) -12x = x+26

    -12x = x-13x

    x-13x = x+26

    -13x = 26

    -13x = -13(-2)

    x = -2

    2.) 3X = 2X-10

    3x = 2x+x

    2x+x = 2x-10

    x = -10
