Independent or Dependent Events?

There are 350 students in Math1 at Dakota Univ. Of these 350 students, 60% had an A in Precalc. and 30% failed Math1. Statistics shows that 10% of the students had an A in PreCalc 40S and still failed Math 1. Are getting and A in Precalc and failing Math 1 independent events? Explain

0.60X 350 = 210 students had A in Precalc.
0.30 X 350 = 105 failed Math1

0.10 X 350 = 35 got A in Pre and still failed Math1

I would say independent, but I need to justify the answer.

Two events A and B are called independent if P(A)P(B) = P(A and B). Here A means a given student took Precalc, and B means a given student failed Math1. P(A) is the probability of A, i.e., 0.6.
