So, my Algebra teacher gave us an extra credit assignment that has really blown my mind...He wants us to do the following:
-Create a fake date for a different world.
-Determine how different the world's day is from that of Earth's.
-Determine how many days are in the world's years - and calculate that into Earth's.
I have done that:
-1/23/5080 = 9/27/2010
-1 local day = 1.04 Earth days
-1 YEAR
--300.1999 local days = 312.2078 Earth days
But then, he asks us to figure out a simple way to change an Earth date into your world's. He gave us the following dates to change too:
- 8/12/1873
- 1/14/1341
- 3/13/1002
I was getting the idea that we basically needed to come up with a formula in which we could simply plug in the Earth day...but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm guessing the 3 things he told us to determine are important - just haven't pieced together the puzzle yet.
I have been working with this for a few days now - and no one else in our class has figured it out. I'm just completly stumped, and looking for someone to solve this for theirselves (I don't even care about the extra credit). I just want to know how it can be done!
