    Problem with Linear Equation.

    2 front tires and 2 back tires total the weight of 17700 N.
    Ration from rear tires to front tires is 0.847.

    What is the weight of the sets of wheels, front and back.

    I need it in linear equation. I am very bad in word problems. please help.

    I think you mean the rear tyres are heavier than the front, yes?

    \frac{front}{rear}=0.847

    front=0.847rear

    rear+front=rear+0.847rear=17700\ N

    1.847rear=17700\ N

    From there you can get the weights of the rear set, followed by the front set.

    If the ratio is meant to be the other way around, just swop rear for front...
