1. ## Quick Divison Algebra

(x+2)/4 = 12/x

its 6, but how would you solve step by step?

Cross Multiply,

$x(x+2) = 12\cdot 4$

$x^2+2x = 48$

$x^2+2x-48=0$

Can you finish it now?

Or think about a common denominator between 4 and x. The only option is "4x." So multiply both sides by 4x. (You'll get what TPH got when he "cross multiplied.")

I prefer common denominators over cross multiplying because it can be applied in more places.
