# Math Help - How could I set this word problem up as a system?

1. ## How could I set this word problem up as a system?

A system of linear equations that is. I think it would be easier to solve that way. The problem:

Mrs. Brady invests a total of $6913 in two savings accounts. One account yields 7% simple interest and the other 7.5% simple interest. She would like to find the amount placed in each account if a total of$511.92 in interest is received after one year.

2. ## Simultaneous equations

You're looking for simultaneous equations. How far did you get?

3. Hi

Here is a hint to get you started:

x+y=6913 0.07x+0.075y=511.92

Can you take it from there?

4. Yes, that's what how I figured it would look. Thanks!
