For the first one all you need to know if how to expand brackets and collect like terms:

    $\displaystyle 7-5x(6-1) $

    $\displaystyle 7- 30x +5x $

    $\displaystyle 7 -25x $

For the second one all you need to know is how much 20% of 18500 dollars is:

    $\displaystyle 18500 * \frac{20}{100} $

    $\displaystyle = 3700 $

    So $\displaystyle 18500 -3700 = 14800 $

Number three is very much the same as number 2

For the first one the correct answer is -18 (the teacher told me) but i don't understand how she got that. I got plenty of answers but never that one. And it is not x as in ex its the multiplying sign

Sorry, you should use * instead..

    ok so...
    $\displaystyle 7-5*(6-1)$

Remember BODMAS (or BIDMAS) or whatever it is? Brackets first!

    $\displaystyle 7-5*(5) $

    Multiplication before subtraction

    $\displaystyle 7-25 $

    Now simple subtraction

    $\displaystyle -18$

Does that make it more clear?
