1. ## basic function problem... need help

Just started my first college math class today, been out of the ropes on Math the past couple years. how would i go about determining the domain of p(a)=√5a-2
any help with steps would greatly be appriciated

2. You should use parentheses to make clear whether you mean (√5)a-2 or (√(5a))-2 or √(5a-2). Or learn LaTeX.

Anyway, you determine the domain with the knowledge that whatever's under the radical can't be negative, when working in real numbers.

3. its √(5a-2)

as stated by undefined ... $5a-2 \ge 0$
