Just started my first college math class today, been out of the ropes on Math the past couple years. how would i go about determining the domain of p(a)=√5a-2 any help with steps would greatly be appriciated

You should use parentheses to make clear whether you mean (√5)a-2 or (√(5a))-2 or √(5a-2). Or learn LaTeX. Anyway, you determine the domain with the knowledge that whatever's under the radical can't be negative, when working in real numbers.
