1. ## Arithmetic Question

89% of pure milk is water . 90 % of a sample milk is water . Find the quantity of water mixed with 22 litres of such milk.

NEED HELP!

2. Hi Arka,

22 liters * 0.90 = 19.8 liters of water

converting percent to decimal is always 100% = 1, 90% = 0.9, 32% = 0.32, 2.3% = 0.023, etc.

How do you know "such milk" is referring to "sample milk" instead of "pure milk"?

22 *.89 = 19.6

I doubt Arka is posting the original question in all of its full-worded glory, because the problem at present is really vague

Arka, not to be funny, but pure milk has no water in it by strict definition so what is it you're really asking?

uhhh, no. Milk is a combination of various things, so it's ok for 100% milk to have certain percentages of other things composing it.
