Thread: Solution to this equation

I have a question that reads. "use your calc to find an approximate solution to the equation x^3 - 3 = 2x "


How do I enter this into my TI-83 to find a sulution? I keep getting some odd number other than 1.8932, which is supposed to be the solution. Thanks!

Thanks so much.. I don't know why, but I completely forgot how to do this kind of calc problem.. Anyway, that was great and thanks so much for taking the time to show me how to do this!

Alternatively, plug one half of the equation into y1, and the other half into y2, and find their intersection point, saves you a step.
