    Synthetic Division

    1 . (x^4 - 3x^3 + 3x^2 - 3x + 6 ) (x - 2)

    2. (x^5 - 8x^3 + 24x^2 + 12x + 40) (x + 4)

    3 . (x^3 - 5x^2 + 4x + 7 ) (x - 1)

    4. (x^4 + 81) (x - 3)

    5. (5x^3 - 12x^2 - 36x -16) (x + 2)

    6 . (12x^4 + 17x^3 + 8x - 40) (x + 2)

    7 . (x^3 - 7x^2 + 8 ) (x + 1)

    8. (x^4 - 81) (x - 3)

    9. (x^3 - 4x^2 + 4x - 1) (x -1)

    10. (x^3 + 6x^2 + 3x + 1 ) (x - 2)

    Probably

Also, to the OP, you realize that some of your problems are multiplication.

I'm not going to attempt to even solve one, because I have no idea how to do it in LaTex. I'll just give a couple of hints. When you divide by (x - k), the k goes in the "box." And don't forget to put zeros for any "missing" terms. So for #7, for example, the set up would be
    Code:
    -1| 1 -7 0 8
    --
       ------------
    ... because (x + 1) = [x - (-1)], and there was no x-term in x^3 - 7x^2 + 8. Now you try.
