    Question Algebra, Percent problem

    I'm a little rusty on my math and was wondering if you could tell me how I might write this:

    4096 is what percent of 34752

    It's not for a homework assignment or anything so you won't be giving the answer to me.

    Thanks

    Is it 4096x = 34752

    Divide 4096 by 34,752 and then multiply by one hundred.

    Actually I didn't really need the answer but just the equation. I'm using it in a computer program. I set it up like this

    Percent = 4096 / (49850 / 100)

    It's actually inside a loop, and 4096 represents current bytes read, 49850 represents total bytes read.
    So, for the first iteration, Percent is around 8, then the second 4096 becomes 8192 and Percent is around 16. I'm using Percent to determine when to increment a progress bar.
