Hint: multiply the second equation by -7 and sum (1) and (2) equation.

I tried that and this is what I got....

8x + 7y = -50

-3x + y = 26

8x + 7y = -50

__21x -7y = -182__

29x = 232

Divide both by 29

X = 8

I then plug in 8 into one of the equations to solve for y

-3(8) + Y =26

-24 + Y = 26

Y = 26 + 24

Y = 50

8(8) + 7 (50) = -50

64 + 350 = -50 (false)

Well so much for work smart, not hard.. I forgot the negative on 232. Now I was able to work it out. You are the greatest. I did not just get the answer by myself, you helped me to accomplish that.! Thanks
