Solution in ordered pairs for the following
8x + 7y = -50
=3x + y = 26

What is the ordered pair for these?

Please show the work so I can understand how you achieved it.

Hint: multiply the second equation by -7 and sum (1) and (2) equation.

I tried that and this is what I got....

8x + 7y = -50
-3x + y = 26

8x + 7y = -50
21x -7y = -182
29x = 232
Divide both by 29

X = 8

I then plug in 8 into one of the equations to solve for y

-3(8) + Y =26
-24 + Y = 26
Y = 26 + 24
Y = 50

8(8) + 7 (50) = -50
64 + 350 = -50 (false)

and this is where I am having a hard time. What am I doing wrong?
