Distribution Issue?
Again with the O of O (I thought I had it licked)
2^3 10[4 (2 +18)3]
8 10[4 +2 18 +3]
8 10[6 15]
8 10(9)
8 + 90
98
But that's incorrect. The book says the answer is 448, so I'm a long way off. The only think I can think of is that it's a distribution problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

In going to the second step, you had (2+18)3 turn into 218+3. The 3 was multiplying (parentheses mean multiplication, unless used as part of a function label) the (2+18), but then it was added. So you need to multiply the result of what was in the parentheses by 3.

Your mistake is in the first step.
4(2+18)3 = 4(16)*3, multiplication before subtraction, so
that makes 4+48, which should lead you to the correct answer.
