Hello,

can someone please explain to me how they got to this answer?

Problem:

how does this...
$1+4x^2-(1/2)+(1/64x^2)$

become...
(2x+(1\8x))^2

how do you get rid of the (1/2)?

$1+4x^2-\frac12+\frac{1}{64x^2}= 4x^2 +\frac12+\frac{1}{64x^2}$
$=(2x)^2 + 2\cdot2x\cdot\frac{1}{8x}+\left(\frac{1}{8x}\right )^2$

$=\left(2x+\frac{1}{8x}\right)^2$
