Powers
Does $8^{\frac{1}{2}}=\sqrt{8}$ or $\frac{1}{8}$?

Same with a negative fraction.

Any tips?

anything to the power of 1/2 is the square root of that base.

8^1/2 = square root of 8

anyting to the power of - means 1 over to that power

8^-1/2 = 1/ 8^2 = 1/64
