    Application

    The weight of a liquid varies as its volume V. If the weight of the liquid in a cubical container 5 cm on a side is 250 g, find the weight of the liquid in a cubical container 4 cm on a side.

    V =k w

    Using the values stated

    5 = 250k

    k = \frac{5}{250}=\frac{1}{50} and V = \frac{1}{50} w

    Now make V=4
